Dr. Sheree Moko
Dr Moko is the first New Zealand Maori woman surgeon. She is a passionate reconstructive Plastic Surgeon, a discipline devoted to helping people affected by defects resulting from trauma (including burns), tumour, or birth deformities. She is also a highly trained and experienced surgeon in cosmetic procedures that help restore, rejuvenate or improve a person’s appearance. She is married and a mother of two children.
Medical Background
Dr Moko was born and educated in New Zealand. After completing her primary medical degree at Auckland University Medical School in 1993 and subsequent hospital internships, she back-packed for two years through Europe, Africa, America, Middle East, Caribbean, India and Nepal, before returning to New Zealand to enter surgical and advanced plastic surgery training. She had two children during her trainee registrar years.
After gaining her Fellowship in Plastic Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004, she sought further specialist training for two years in Australia, Japan and the United Kingdom. This included a Cosmetic Fellowship on the Gold Coast; one year working in Japan with a world leading Plastic Surgeon in microtia (ear reconstruction utilising rib cartilage and scalp tissue for children born with little or no ears); and a Fellowship in Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction for women undergoing treatment for breast cancer in the United Kingdom.
In 2007 Dr Moko returned to the Gold Coast to practice.
