The size and shape of your nose can be altered with rhinoplasty.
Before Procedure
At your first consultation with Dr Moko, she will listen to what you would like changed about your nose. She will obtain a thorough medical history and physical examination, paying particular attention to previous nasal trauma, surgery, allergies or breathing difficulties. She will give you an honest appraisal of what can be achieved, outlining the details of the procedure and the possible risks.
Photos will be taken before and after to record your results.
Procedure
You will be placed under general anaesthesia. Incisions will be made inside the nostrils and across the columellar, the strip of skin between the nostrils. The soft tissues are elevated from the underlying cartilage and bone. The bone and cartilage are changed according to what is required. The incisions are closed with dissolving stitches on the inside and removable stitches on the outside. An external splint is placed and occasionally internal nasal packing.
After Procedure
You can have rhinoplasty as a day surgery procedure or you may stay overnight. Discomfort is managed with oral pain relief.
Cold packs are placed over your forehead to reduce swelling. You return to the clinic the following day to remove any nasal packing, at 5 days to remove sutures, and at 10 days to remove the splint.
You can usually return to work after 2 weeks and to normal activities at 6 weeks. You can notice subtle changes to your nose for up to one year.
